This week we’re delighted to announce our Isle of Harris Gin has reached the end of its 10,500 mile journey and arrived in the city of Melbourne, Australia.  

Spring is in full swing here in Harris, and we’ve been blessed with beautiful days full of birdsong and big blue skies. The crofts, machair and moors around us abound with new lambs, and those of us who cut peats are already making a start on this year's hard work.

Our ongoing Harris Tweed Project has reached a key milestone this evening as we are pleased to announce the winner of our island-wide competition to design a pattern for our official distillery Harris Tweed.

Our island distillery sits by the harbour shores of a small village in the far northwest reaches of Scotland, tucked into the tightly belted isthmus of Tarbert.

After months of seemingly endless wind and rain, hail and snow, the Isle of Harris emerges from winter just in time to welcome the annual arrival of lambs

It’s the sound of the peat banks and sheep fanks and can be heard in homes across the Outer Hebrides. It can be discerned in village shops, streets and schools across our islands and, if you listen closely enough, in our distillery too.

Last year saw the launch of our Harris Tweed Project, a celebration of the craft behind this iconic Outer Hebridean cloth and the creativity of our islands’ young people.

Spring is officially here, the vernal equinox heralding the arrival of new life across the island’s natural world and here at the Isle of Harris Distillery too.
