The Hearach
A milestone crafted with Harris peat
THE HEARACH DECADE EDITION
Coming 12th September 10am
To mark a decade of distilling in Tarbert, The Hearach Decade Edition pays homage to the dedication of those who have shaped our distillery. Made using peat harvested from our wild and rugged landscape, this very limited release is an invitation to savour our first Harris-peated whisky that’s rooted in tradition, craft, and the slow rhythm of the Outer Hebrides.
TASTING NOTES
ON THE NOSE
Caramelised oranges and dried citrus peel are prominent. Then sweet nutty sugared almonds turning slowly to notes of dark brown sugar and a touch of liquorice toffee. There’s a burst of mixed florals, mellowing into gentler more herbaceous purple heather and lavender notes

ON THE PALATE
Harris peat smoke complements the flavours of spiced ginger cake and bonfire toasted marshmallows on the palate. The finish is creamy and long.

THE LANGUAGE OF THE PEATLANDS
CUT BY HAND FROM THE LAND WE CALL HOME
Scattered across Harris, peat stacks stand as quiet guardians, promising warmth through the long Hebridean winters. Though modern life has eased reliance on this ancient fuel, the summer gatherings to cut, carry, and stack peat remains a cherished tradition across the Hebrides.
Our peat-cutting traditions are steeped in their own unique terms, passed down through generations. Iarann mòine is the long-handled peat iron, angled to slice neatly through the turf, whereas a fàd is a single slab of peat, wet and dark, fresh from the moor. However, it’s the cruach that’s the crowning glory – the final peat stack, interlinked, tall, solid and protected, traditionally standing outside the family home.
In honour of these customs, The Hearach Decade Edition is made with peat cut here by our distillery team – past and present. It speaks with a gentle smoky, earthy accent of the Isle of Harris itself, connecting every dram to the people, the land, and the enduring traditions that hold our community together.

WHISKY TO CELEBRATE A SINGULAR VISION
Raise a glass to the next chapter
The Hearach Decade Edition is a whisky of layered complexity and quiet intent. The Harris peat lends a gentle smokiness, weaving through soft floral notes, warm spices, and a deep malt sweetness. And the finish is long and lingering, evoking the scent of coastal peat fires.
The Hearach Decade Edition is more than a whisky. It’s a celebration of ten years’ work, a toast to the people who brought it to life, and a promise of what lies ahead. Made to be savoured and shared among friends and family, it connects you to our island’s enduring spirit and invites you to be part of our story for the next 10 years and beyond.
