THE HEARACH SINGLE MALT

OUR INAUGURAL EXPRESSION

MEET THE HEARACH

AN ISLAND IN A BOTTLE

Complex, elegant, and full of character, our inaugural expression is a delicious dram which unfolds in your glass, revealing itself wonderfully over time, just like the island itself.

From the beginning of our Harris whisky-making story, we set out to capture the very best of our island home in our first historic release.

This is why every drop of The Hearach single malt whisky is distilled, matured, blended, married, and bottled here in the Isle of Harris and nowhere else.

Our distillers and blenders are all drawn from the local community too and have been trained from scratch in the craft and science of spirit-making.

The results of this weaving together of people and place can be found in every bottle of The Hearach Single Malt.

TASTING NOTES

COMPLEX, ELEGANT, AND FULL OF CHARACTER

We encourage you to explore the scents and sensory experience of The Hearach single malt from a personal point of view but to help things along, here's our Head Blender's tasting notes...

|

“ I get a gentle peat smoke on the first sip which reminds me of island home fires burning when I was growing up. It comes along with a toasted maltiness. I can also taste homemade apple sauce and smell machair flowers, particularly white clover which springs up on our west coast every summer. Mixed spices appear, and an old-fashioned sweetness from things like candied ginger, vanilla, and honeycomb. Finally, there’s a long, clotted-cream note, mixed with a lasting sense of new leather. ”

Shona Macleod, Carragreich, Isle of Harris.

PEAT SMOKE - APPLE SAUCE - TOASTED MALT - WILDFLOWERS - SPICE - CANDIED SWEETS - CLOTTED CREAM

“I can’t tell you how impressed I am...the flavour profile is truly unique. I have never tasted a whisky like it, and have rarely been so impressed by a first release.

It really does seem to embody the island of its birth. Sea- spray, kelp and smouldering peat smoke; elemental but also gentle.

Soft vanilla fudge, faintly floral and with a texture as soft as a Gaelic song - very more-ish!”

Charles Maclean MBE - Whisky expert and writer.
