Batch: HE 00016 24

Each batch has natural variation due to individual choice of casks and differing 'marrying' periods.

The Hearach is the first, historic single malt whisky from our island distillery and the Isle of Harris. Like the iconic Harris Tweed cloth created here for generations, our first historic whisky is woven from the hands of island people and the place we call home, intimately intertwining to produce an elegant spirit of complexity and character. This special connection between people and place continues to this day with every drop of The Hearach created by Isle of Harris hands here in the Outer Hebrides. Our recipe uses spirit matured in ex-bourbon casks, oloroso and fino butts.

700ml / 46% ABV

Non-chill filtered / No artificial colouring.

HE 00016 24: Tasting Notes

“An initial freshness and smoke, transporting me to the hill above my village. There's a salt-air in the wind combining with subtle scents from peat fires burning in the houses below. Then a cacophony of buttery popcorn sweetness, spiced stewed apples, nutmeg, cinnamon and green apple tang. I taste more sweet but tangy smoke, the phenolics are subtle but enough to excite. There's a ceilidh dance of spice with pepper and star anise joining in. I taste my home-made rhubarb and ginger jam too. The finish has a warm lingering smoke with a welcome reappearance of that subtle sweetness and warm spices. It's very reminiscent of the Hebrides, with all the island seasons in one glass. ”

- JIM ALLEN, SHULISHADER, ISLE OF LEWIS.
