Charles and Ray Eames were responsible for some of the most groundbreaking designs in architecture, furniture, and products of the 20th century.
With the recent launch of our new Isle of Harris Gin presentation box and story about Dieter Rams, we're reminded of this incredible couple and their outstanding work.
From buildings like their 1949 Eames House in California to iconic furniture like the Eames lounge chair and ottoman, the design duo shaped and inspired much of the way we live today.
They were also famous for a meticulous attention to every detail of their designs from start to finish, from the development process and materials to the final photography.
Charles Eames was once quoted as saying….
"The details are not just the details; they make the product."
It's the details that elevate an average design to a great one. They heighten the experience and bring pleasure, even if it is unclear quite how it's done.
Attention to detail is something we always try to focus on whenever we make something new.
Natural, recyclable materials, subtle debossing, high-resolution photography, hand-drawings, considered typography, custom-made construction, and informative copy, can all be combined to create something special.
And, then there's colour, how things fit together and feel in the hand. With care and creativity it's possible to continue to surprise and delight our customers, even with packaging.
Next week we launch our new Isle of Harris gift range, with a new addition to our glassware range and completely redesigned packaging going on sale on Friday 15th at 5 pm.
We've looked at every aspect of the new range and designed it all from the ground up, taking time to create an unboxing experience that reveals our story and shares our spirit.
We can't wait to share the final results with you. But for the moment, we'd like to give you a small glimpse of what's heading your way, helping to show that good design really is all in the details...
